20talk Mental health First Aid Training Information

As part of 20talk’s mission to normalize the conversation around mental health – we will be offering nationally accredited Mental Health First Aid training. This training will be conducted over a 2-day course and can be conducted at a workplace, or a venue as organized by 20talk.

Mental Health First Aid training is the mental health equivalent of physical first aid. It is designed to teach people how to address minor health concerns appropriately and to be an effective first responders in a crisis before professional help arrives.

The training covers:

• What is Mental Health and why is it important?

• What is Mental Health First Aid and when is it required?

• How to assess if a person is in crisis and what to do/say.

• The signs, symptoms and interventions related to the four main mental health problems.

Depression | Anxiety | Psychosis | Substance Abuse

Upon completion, participants will receive their Mental Health First Aiders accreditation which is valid for 3 years before requiring a refresher course. Once accredited, participants are enabled to complete further training and upskill with only short courses on additional learning i.e. Mental Health First Aid for Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders.

All fees go directly to 20talk and the work they do in the community.
